~~ MAKING OF SAI BABA'S ORIGINAL IDOL AT SHIRDI ~~

Sai Baba's Statue in Shirdi, which has become the most mesmerizing divine image of Baba,
was installed on 7th October`1954, Vijayadashami Day - 36 years after Baba's Mahasamadhi.

In 1952, a piece of a White Italian Marble had arrived from Italy at the Bombay Docks
but for whom or why, nobody seemed to know anything about it.
Thus, in the absence of a claimant, the dockyard authorities auctioned it off
and the purchaser later offered it to the Shirdi Sai Sansthan.

Impressed by the quality of the Italian Marble, the Shirdi Sansthan planned to use it for an Idol of Sai Baba.
So they gave Shri.Balaji Vasantrao Talim - a sculptor from Bombay, the humungous task of sculpting Baba's Idol.
Meticulously, Shri.Balaji Talim got his tools 'made to order' from iron-smiths and carpenters
and started off by first making a Model of Baba using Mud Clay.



But it was difficult for Shri.Balaji Talim to make the statue in its exact likeness
without the intricate details of the physical characteristic's of Baba's face,
to profile which he only had Baba's one black & white photograph.
Therefore, he prayed saying "If Sri Sai Baba gives me darshan while making His Statue,
the Statue will be worthy & the devotees also will have feelings of devotion".

And sure enough one early morning, around 07:00 am when Shri.Balaji entered his Studio, he saw a bright light even before
he could switch on the Lights. Baba had appeared in the Light and given Darshan to him in the studio itself.
Baba remarked on Talim's difficulties and showed him his Face from various angles,
encouraging Talim to study it thoroughly and remember it well.

This gave Talim the fillip he needed and after that the work just flowed easily and the result exceeded all expectations.
Shri.Balaji Talim testified about this to Sri Sai Narayan Baba, as to how Baba himself had directed the Sculpting of the Statue
and how at every stage, he could very clearly hear the divine voice of Baba guiding him.

The Shirdi Sai Sansthan immediately approved this Mud Statue of Baba, on the basis of which the present
Italian Marble Statue of Sai Baba was carved and installed in the Samadhi Shrine.


- SHRI B.V.TALIM SCULPTING BABA'S IDOL -



~ A MIRACLE ~
In 1954, while working with his workers at the finishing stages of Sculpting the almost ready Marble Statue of Sai Baba,
Shri.Balaji Talim found an Air Pocket in a small additional portion below the Left Knee of Baba's Statue, which had to be removed.
It seemed dangerous, as in removing an Air Pocket from a Finished Statue, there was every risk of the entire portion coming down,
thus leaving the Statue Khandit (Broken), which therefore could not be worshiped at all.

So the work stopped and Shri.Balaji Talim hesitated to strike and chisel out the additional portion.
He feared that the entire Statue might get destroyed and all his labour & time would go waste.
He became nervous and prayed to Baba, "Baba have mercy on me. Your Murti is ready. Please Baba have mercy on me."
Just then he then heard a voice within saying "Balaji, Carry on".

So Balaji instructed his workers to carry on and chisel out the additional portion,
but the workers refused to do so fearing that the entire knee portion would just drop out.

Eventually & quite nervously, Shri.Balaji Talim took the chisel & hammer himself and while praying "Baba, help me" gave a small stroke,
touching the additional portion of the marble below the Left Knee.
And to his great surprise, only the additional portion of the marble came down leaving the rest of Baba's Statue intact.
Seeing this, tears rolled down his eyes and he prostrated before Baba, started dancing and distributing sweets to all..
As, he experienced such a wonderful miracle of Sai Baba.

The 5' 5" finished Idol of Sai Baba was taken throughout the village with pomp & ceremony.
Baba's Idol was so Life like that devotees like Swami Sri Sai Saranananda & Laxmibai, who had personally been with Baba,
felt as if Baba had come back alive in the form of his Idol.

On 7th October`1954, Vijayadasami Day, this lifelike Marble Statue of Sai Baba was installed on the platform of
the Samadhi Shrine's western side behind Baba's Samadhi and the due formalities of Prana Pratistha were done
by Swami Sri Sai Saranananda who had met Baba before His Mahasamadhi.

At the time of preparation of Baba's Statue, one day Baba gave Darshan to Shri.Balaji Talim and said,
"Finish the work and you will not do any other Idol in future."
So Talim did not prepare any other Idol since then and finally at the age of 82 on 25th December`1970 he breathed his last.

~~सृष्टि के आरंभ से कलियुग तक की कथा है भागवत~~

सृष्टि के आरंभ से कलियुग तक की कथा है भागवतश्रीमद् भागवत पुराण वैष्णव संप्रदाय सहित अन्य संप्रदायों के लिए सर्वश्रेष्ठ ग्रंथ है। इसमें भगवान विष्णु के विभिन्न प्रमुख 24 अवतारों का वर्णन है, किंतु श्री कृष्ण चरित्र इसमें प्रधान माना जाता है।श्रीमद्भागवत की रचना महर्षि कृष्णद्वैपायन व्यास (वेद व्यास) ने ब्रह्मर्षि नारद की प्रेरणा से की।क्यों लिखी - कथा प्रचलित है कि महाभारत जैसे महाग्रंथ की रचना के बाद भी वेद व्यास संतुष्ट और प्रसन्न नहीं थे, उनके मन में एक खिन्नता का भाव था। तब श्री नारद ने वेद व्यास को प्रेरणा दी कि वे एक ऐसे ग्रंथ ही रचना करें जिसके केंद्र में भगवान विष्णु हों। इसके बाद वेद व्यास ने इस ग्रंथ की रचना की। श्रीमद् भागवत के 12 स्कंध हैं तथा 18 हजार श्लोक हैं। भारतीय पुराण साहित्य में श्रीमद् भागवत को समस्त श्रुतियों का सार, महाभारत का तात्पर्य निर्णायक तथा ब्रह्म सूत्रों का भाष्य कहा जाता है।इसमें सृष्टि की रचना से लेकर कलियुग यानी सृष्टि के विनाश तक की कहानी है। इसमें भगवान के अवतारों की कथाओं के जरिए जीवन में कर्म और अन्य शिक्षाओं को पिरोया गया है। भागवत व्यवहारिक और गृहस्थ्य जीवन का ग्रंथ है। इसमें आम जीवन में उपयोगी कई बातों को गूढ़ कथाओं में समझाया गया है। श्री वेद व्यास के पुत्र शुकदेव को इस कथा श्रेष्ठ कथाकार माना गया है। वे इस कथा का संपूर्ण मर्म जानते थे। उन्होंने ही इसे आमजनों में प्रचारित किया।

"SAI NAAM JAAP AANDOLAN"
- PROTEST IN SHIRDI -
Tuesday 31st August`2010

Shirdi: On Tuesday 31st Aug`2010, around 2,500 Workers of the Shirdi Sai Sansthan
went on a "Sai Naam Jaap Aandolan" - a One Day Peaceful Protest, while chanting Baba's Name.
This Strike was called by the "Jai Sai Nath Kamgar Seva Sangh".
They were demanding their wages be raised from Rs.3000/- per month to Rs.5000/- per month,
as it was difficult for them to run their houses in todays Inflationary Times.
They were also demanding to be made Permanent instead of Temporary Workers.

They had all gathered in front of Baba's Samadhi Mandir on the Pimpalwadi Road
and were Chanting Sai Baba's Mantra "Om Sai Namoh Namaha" continuously, with a small Palki of Sai Baba kept infront of them.
As it was a peaceful Protest, there was no confusion or trouble caused to the devotees visiting the Samadhi Temple.

~~राधाकृष्ण: नि:स्वार्थ प्रेम ही पूजनीय है~~~

वैसे तो सभी रिश्ते-नातों का अपना विशेष महत्व है, सभी के अपने अलग कर्तव्य और अधिकार हैं। परमात्मा द्वारा किस परिवार में हमें जन्म दिया गया है उसी के अनुसार हमारे सभी रिश्ते-नाते निर्धारित होते हैं। जन्म से जुड़े रिश्तों के अतिरिक्त एक रिश्ता है प्रेम का। किसी से नि:स्वार्थ प्रेम का रिश्ता सदैव पूजनीय है यह संदेश दिया है श्रीकृष्ण ने। श्रीकृष्ण और राधा इस बात का उदाहरण है कि नि:स्वार्थ प्रेम हर रिश्ते से बढ़कर पवित्र और महान हैं। इसी वजह से श्रीकृष्ण की पूजा राधा के साथ ही की जाती है।

रिश्तों में माता-पिता और गुरु का स्थान ईश्वर के समान ही बताया गया है और यह लोग सदैव आदर और मान-सम्मान प्राप्त करने के अधिकारी भी हैं। इनका अनादर करने वाले से भगवान कभी प्रसन्न नहीं हो सकते। स्वयं भगवान विष्णु ने जब-जब अवतार लिया है उन्होंने माता-पिता और गुरुदेव के प्रति श्रद्धा और भक्ति रखने का ही संदेश दिया है। कोई भी व्यक्ति जन्म से मृत्यु तक असंख्य लोगों के संपर्क में आता है। कुछ विशेष लोगों से उसे स्नेह हो जाता है, कुछ मित्र बन जाते हैं। इन सभी लोगों में किसी खास शख्स के प्रति हमारा मन नि:स्वार्थ भाव से प्रेम करने लगता है। ऐसा ही प्रेम था राधा और श्रीकृष्ण के बीच। इनका प्रेम की कोई सीमा नहीं है, दोनों ही एक-दूसरे से असीम प्रेम रखते है। इनके प्रेम में कोई स्वार्थ नहीं कोई अपेक्षा नहीं है।

गोकुल में ऐसी कोई गोपी न थी जिसे श्रीकृष्ण से प्रेम न हो। हर गोपी का प्रेम पवित्र और भक्तिपूर्ण था। सभी श्रीकृष्ण को अपने प्रियतम के रूप में ही देखती थी और श्रीकृष्ण भी सभी को वैसा ही स्नेह प्रदान करते थे। इन सभी गोपियों में राधा का स्थान सर्वोच्च है। राधा का प्रेम इतना गहरा और महान है कि उन्होंने अपना सर्वस्व श्रीकृष्ण पर न्यौछावर कर दिया और अपने मन को पूरी तरह से श्रीकृष्ण के चरणों में लगा दिया। श्रीकृष्ण भी राधा के प्रेम में पूरी तरह से रंग गए।

श्रीकृष्ण और राधा के प्रेम की गहराई को दर्शाते कई प्रसंग हमारे धर्म ग्रंथों में दिए गए हैं। उन्हीं के अनुसार एक बार राधा से श्रीकृष्ण से पूछा- हे कृष्ण तुम प्रेम तो मुझसे करते हों परंतु तुमने विवाह मुझसे नहीं किया, ऐसा क्यों? मैं अच्छे से जानती हूं तुम साक्षात भगवान ही हो और तुम कुछ भी कर सकते हों, भाग्य का लिखा बदलने में तुम सक्षम हों, फिर भी तुमने रुकमणी से शादी की, मुझसे नहीं।

राधा की यह बात सुनकर श्रीकृष्ण ने उत्तर दिया- हे राधे, विवाह दो लोगों के बीच होता है। विवाह के लिए दो अलग-अलग व्यक्तियों की आवश्यकता होती है। तुम मुझे यह बताओं राधा और कृष्ण में दूसरा कौन है। हम तो एक ही हैं। फिर हमें विवाह की क्या आवश्यकता है। नि:स्वार्थ प्रेम, विवाह के बंधन से अधिक महान और पवित्र होता है। इसीलिए राधाकृष्ण नि:स्वार्थ प्रेम की प्रतिमूर्ति हैं और सदैव पूजनीय हैं।

~~ PAPAYA LEAF CURE FOR DENGUE ~~



It is a fact that there is no cure for dengue fever and therefore it is a much feared fatal illness.
However, recently there has been a lot written about papaya leaves that seem to prove itself as a cure to dengue fever.

Only 2 spoonfuls of raw papaya leaves juice, taken once a day can help dengue patients increase their platelet count
and therefore overcome the fever. Here is how you juice the leaves:

Take Raw Papaya leaves, 2 pcs just cleaned and pound and squeeze with filter cloth.
You will only get one tablespoon per leaf.
So two tablespoon per serving once a day.
Do not boil or cook or rinse with hot water, it will loose its strength.
Only the leafy part and no stem or sap. It is very bitter and you have to swallow it. But it works.

Note: Papaya juice is believed to increase the white blood cells count in the body.
There is no scientific proof for this though.

Also one's body gets overheated when down with dengue which also causes the patient to have fever.
Papaya Juice has cooling effect so it helps to reduce the level of heat in one's body, thus the fever will go away.

With the Inauguration of the Second Train to Shirdi from Mumbai and the Laying of the Foundation Stone for Shirdi's Airport,
the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) is seeing it as an Competition from Rail & Air connectivity on the Mumbai-Shirdi route,
so it is also upgrading its Bus services to attract more passengers.

State Transport Minister Radhakrishna Vikhe-Patil said that there was a huge demand for Buses to Shirdi,
so MSRTC plans to restart the AC Volvo service connecting Mumbai and Shirdi.
"We will go for Public-Partnership projects to make our Bus Stands at Shirdi Hi-tech
and add more facilities for passenger comfort,'' he stated.

He said that there were plans to introduce GPS systems in all semi-Luxury and Luxury buses.
"We also want to change the interiors of our buses to make them more passenger-friendly and aesthetic.
We are hiring consultants to advise us on the interiors, upholstery and lighting,'' he stated.
The minister said that he wanted every passenger on a religious tour to travel comfortably in the semi-luxury buses.

MSRTC is also planning to venture into Religious Tourism and is requesting the Government to reduce Taxes on these tickets,
making it cheaper than private buses. Once the project is finalized, tickets for the Religious Tours can be booked Online.

Also, from Sunday, 29th August`2010 the State Transport (S.T) has put 5 of its fast Buses on a Daily Mumbai-Shirdi Route.
This is apart from the 16 Buses which it runs daily to Shirdi from Dadar`Mumbai.
Out of these Five Buses Started by ST, Two will run from Borivali-Thane-Nasik-Shirdi,
while the remaining Three Buses will ply Dadar-Thane-Nasik-Shirdi.

MSRTC managing director Deepak Kapoor said the buses will be a faster option than the railways and will reach Shirdi in the morning.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Ashok Chavan has said that there was a need to promote Infrastructure in Holy places,
such as Shirdi, and speed up their overall Development as it will provide huge employment opportunities to the people.

And as everyday thousands of Devotees come to Shirdi for Baba's Darshan, given the importance of Shirdi town, to maintain Law & Order,
a Special Independent Police Station will be built in Shirdi where a Police Officer of a Deputy Superintendent Rank,
will be appointed and the development of Shirdi will be accelerated in the wake of the centenary year of Shirdi Sai Baba's Punyatithi in 2018.
